  • Residents: Those with resident visas can also apply for extensions within their visa validity period.

Maximum Duration:

  • Extensions are granted for up to a maximum of 270 days in total, typically in 30- or 90-day blocks.

Application Methods:

  1. Online: The most convenient method is through the Department of Immigration and Emigration’s online portal.
  2. In-Person: Visit the Department of Immigration and Emigration offices in Battaramulla.

Process of applying for a one-day visa.

Enter from the main entrance for all the visa renewals.
Go to the 2nd building “VISA RENEWALS”

Step 01 – Visit the Token token-issuing counter. Submit the docs and get a token


Step 02 – Visit the Token calling counter

Step 03 – Get a token and proceed to the VISA accepting Unit. Stand outside one of the VISA office cubicles and submit all the documents. There will be a small interview process.

Step 04 – Visit Shroff (Payment Counter). Pay your fee here. You can see your number called on the screen

Final Step – Go to the collection unit
